The Legislative Council is extremely busy these days as the government tries to pass as many things possible before the change of administration.
There are also the urgent hearings regarding issues concerning those running for chief executive, some of which involve invoking the Legislative Council (Powers and Privileges) Ordinance.
All work must be completed before the Legco election in September.
The ordinance gives Legco the power to summon witnesses, including top officials and others, and generates much work.
Issues arising from the collapse of Lehman Brothers were investigated under the ordinance during the current term.
Much has happened since the investment bank failed three years ago, and banks and victims have agreed compensation terms.
Legco, meanwhile, has completed its investigation, and the responsibility of completing its report has fallen to working group chairman Raymond Ho Chung-tai.
I remember the report into the chaos at the opening of the new airport ran to more than 700 pages.
Given the gravity of the Lehman affair, Ho was asked whether the public may expect him to hand in the longest report ever.
Ho dismissed the suggestion, saying he does not wish to compete for such a dubious honor.
The bulk of information from the investigation will be recorded on a CD, so the written report will be compact.
However, the financial sector will be most concerned when it comes to where responsibility lies.
And, as he is from the engineering sector, Ho had been hotly tipped to also take part in the impending investigation into alleged discrepancies relating to the West Kowloon Cultural District design contest.
Earlier, he had indicated an interest in doing so, and his expertise would certainly lend depth to the probe.
